RESEARCH BLOGS: in weeks 3-6 we will be
working on a group blog that documents our research into our investigative
web feature. We will be marked individually on our blog posts.
Due date: Our blog posts are due in week 6 Friday 7th
September at 5pm.
Each person will write 600
words in several posts detailing our thoughts on:
- what our feature
will be about
- who will use it,
and what content those users are interested in
- what features
inspire us
- how our feature
will be different to existing features on the same or similar topics
- what design or
layout ideas we like in other features
- what types of
content we might like to include
- tools and
services that we might like to build our feature
What we will be marked on... (important !!!)
What we will be marked on... (important !!!)
- - the relevance and creativity of your ideas
- - our depth of understanding of our target users
- - the accuracy and depth of our research.
- - use of the medium
A good research blog post tells our team members and our editor:
- something timely, relevant, novel, and otherwise newsworthy about the topic
- shares links to interesting and relevant evidence, explanatory or illustrative materials
- shows we’ve been browsing what’s already published and thinking about how to connect with your target users
- shows use of appropriate writing techniques (short sentences, embedded links, author profile etc)
- shows effective use of images, video, audio etc
